THE PROBLEM: Road vehicles account for over 20% of global greenhouse gas emissions. By optimising the shape of body, we can reduce the amount of drag it produces and increase fuel efficiency.
THE SOLUTION: We can optimise vehicle geometry using aerodynamic theory to minimise drag. First, we test numerically using specialist software, and confirming our models using physical prototypes in wind tunnels.
This car was modelled from scratch in SolidWorks, using surface modelling. The CFD analysis was also conducted in SolidWorks.
